On October 22, 2020, Handley Farah & Anderson filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on behalf of a group of employees of Agent Wall Systems, Inc. and B & A Construction Services, Inc. The lawsuit alleges that these companies failed to properly compensate workers for work done at the Fine Arts Center of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia and other construction projects around Virginia. Specifically, the Complaint alleges that while employed by the companies at those projects, the Plaintiffs (1) regularly worked in excess of forty hours per week but were not paid at the required time and a half overtime rate for this work and (2) were illegally classified as independent contractors when they were in fact employees.
