On December 6, 2021, Handley Farah & Anderson filed a lawsuit in Superior Court for the District of Columbia on behalf of a group of constructions workers performing work for W.G. Welch, LLC and HITT Contracting Inc.  The Plaintiffs allege that their employers failed to properly compensate them for work done in Washington, DC at 1000 South Capitol Street, SE.

The Complaint alleges that while employed at this project, the Plaintiffs regularly worked in excess of forty hours per week but were not paid at the required time and a half overtime rate for this work.  Additionally, the Complaint alleges that the Plaintiffs were not paid at all for several weeks of work and were illegally classified as independent contractors, when they were in fact bona fide employees.  Construction at 1000 South Capitol Street was developed by Lerner Enterprises.
