Samantha Braver is an Associate Attorney at Handley Farah & Anderson, where she represents workers, consumers, and members of vulnerable populations who have been harmed by corporate misconduct and government abuses.
Samantha litigates class actions around the country on behalf of unpaid workers and victims of discrimination. Those cases involve allegations of wage theft, exploited foreign labor, antitrust violations, housing discrimination, employment discrimination, and disability discrimination.
Prior to joining HFA, Samantha Braver clerked for the Honorable Patty Shwartz in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Honorable Michael Shipp in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. She also served as a fellow at the boutique union-side law firm Bredhoff & Kaiser PLLC, where she litigated on behalf of labor and progressive institutions.
Samantha has a longstanding commitment to public service and human rights. She graduated with Kent and Stone honors from Columbia Law School, where she served as an editor of the Columbia Law Review and successfully advocated for the removal of intrusive mental health questions on bar applications for aspiring attorneys. During law school, Samantha clerked for Senator Coons on the Senate Judiciary Committee, preparing the Senator for the Supreme Court confirmation hearing of Justice Amy Coney Barrett. As a student attorney for the Health Justice Advocacy Clinic, Samantha worked on federal legislation for lead-safe housing. She also served as a volunteer lawyer for the Biden Transition Team and held internship positions at the U.S. Department of State: Office of the Legal Adviser, New York State Division of Human Rights, and a prominent Washington, D.C. law firm.
Samantha is the author of Circuit Court Dysphoria: The Status of Gender Confirmation Surgery Requests by Incarcerated Transgender Individuals, 120 Colum. L. Rev. 8 (2020), and Mental Health Questions on the Bar Application Prevent People From Seeking Help, Teen Vogue (2022).
Samatha received her B.A., summa cum laude, from the College of William & Mary and her M.Phil in International Relations & Politics from King’s College at the University of Cambridge.
She lives in the New York City metropolitan area, where she enjoys hiking, reading, and attending musicals.
