Carter v. Ford Motor Company, Civil Action No. 2:19-cv-10417 (U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida).
This consumer class action alleges that certain Ford F-150 vehicles sold between 2015 and 2019 suffer from a defect that warps the dashboard. The complaint alleges that the warping is often most evident around the defroster vents and/or the glove compartment. The complaint alleges that, as a result of the defect, the dashboard is also subject to a noisy rattle at times.
The complaint alleges that Ford has known of this issue since, at latest, April of 2015. The complaint further alleges that despite Ford’s awareness of the defect for years, the company has not provided an adequate fix and, instead, has continued to sell vehicles with knowledge that they possess warped dashboards. The complaint alleges that although Ford issued a Technical Service Bulletin in February 2019 claiming to have fixed the warping issue through a redesign of a component of the dashboard, the redesigned component warps again within weeks. This litigation seeks to compel Ford to complete proper repairs for hundreds of thousands of 2015-2019 Ford F-150 dashboards.
