VOLKSWAGEN STALLING LITIGATION

Dickinson v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., Civil Action No. 1:20-cv-579 (U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York).

This consumer class action alleges that Model Year 2018 and 2019 Volkswagen GTI, Golf, Jetta, Passat and Tiguan vehicles equipped with 2.0L TSI engines suffer from a defect that causes them to suddenly and unexpectedly stall. The complaint alleges that the stalling causes the vehicles to abruptly stop, posing a danger to the driver and occupants of the vehicles.

The complaint alleges that Volkswagen has known of this issue for years. Despite Volkswagen’s awareness of the defect, the company has not provided an adequate fix and, instead, has continued to sell vehicles with knowledge that they possess the defect. The complaint further alleges that Volkswagen representatives are not covering repairs of the defect and, instead, are blaming consumers for improper driving or improper maintenance. This litigation seeks to compel Volkswagen to complete proper repairs for thousands of 2018 and 2019 GTI, Golf, Jetta, Passat and Tiguan vehicles.
