Esparza et. al. v. Anning-Johnson Co. et. al., 1:19-cv-03481 (U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia)

This wage theft class and collective action was brought on behalf of a group of former employees of Anning-Johnson Company, a subcontractor of Hitt Contracting Incorporated.  The Complaint alleges that these employers failed to pay workers overtime premiums and also illegally misclassified workers.  Specifically, the Complaint alleges that while employed by Defendants at different project sites across the District of Columbia and Virginia, Plaintiffs regularly worked in excess of forty hours per week but were not paid at the required time and a half overtime rate for this work.  Additionally, the Complaint alleges that Plaintiffs were illegally classified as independent contractors, when they were in fact employees.
